Tomato and Turkey Jerky
1 pound ground turkey
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons brewer's yeast
Heat oven to 120 degrees f or the lowest setting. You may also convert these
instructions for use in a food dehydrator.
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Spread the mixture onto a jellyroll
pan lined with foil. It should spread out evenly to about 1/4 inch thick.
Place the meat mixture in the oven and prop the oven door open slightly
to allow moisture to escape. Bake for about 2 hours, until the meat appears
dry.
Remove the pan from the oven and place another sheet of foil over it. Grasping
both sheets of foil, flip the meat over and peel the foil from the top,
essentially turning it upside down on the pan. Place the pan back in the
oven with the door propped open, and bake for another 1 to 2 hours. The
meat should look like jerky when done, red and dried.
