Cookie Recipes - Bars, Squares and Slices
Candy Cane Squares
Crust:
1 (20 ounce) package refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1/2 teaspoon mint extract
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Topping:
1 (10 ounce) package vanilla flavored milk chips (white chocolate)
9 round peppermint candies (1/2 cup crushed)
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine cookie dough, extract and flour in bowl. Spread dough
evenly into a 14-inch circle on a round baking stone with a
rolling pin. Flour dough and rolling pin, if necessary. Bake
for 20 minutes.
As cookie is baking, chop mints and walnuts finely. Remove baked
cookie from oven and immediately sprinkle vanilla chips evenly
over cookie crust. Wait 2 to 3 minutes. Spread chips evenly
into a thin layer. Sprinkle mints and nuts over vanilla layer.
Run serrated knife or spatula under crust to loosen from baking
stone. Cool for 5 minutes. Cut into squares and serve.
